When life hits you hard it helps to have a positive attitude and to see the good in an otherwise bad situation. From a metaphysical point of view we are responsible for everything that happens to us in one way or another so the more mature question would be “Why did I choose this for myself?” and then to proceed from that point onwards.
Some call this plain of existence the school of hard knocks while others believe we have some pre determined lessons to live out. Others will say its karma while some believe that you were just unlucky. The karma believers might have a point but I believe the real big hits were determined before birth.
When my car was stolen I believed it was because I became so attached to it that the universe felt it best to remove it and teach me that I will still be around after my car was gone.
My Church going neighbors believed it was God punishing me for not going to church like they do while my Indian trader friend believed that I must have stolen something from someone and through Karma the universe now wants me to feel what that person felt as a form of just reward.
My dad believed it was stolen because I did not have an alarm and immobilizer fitted like he advised. My policeman friend believed it was stolen because the police cannot be in enough places at once and he feels somewhat responsible for my loss.
So everyone will believe as they do but I believe only the experiencer of these hard knocks will really get to the bottom of it when they ask themselves the hard questions in the mirror. I still maintain I was becoming too attached to that car because I was beginning to establish a “holier than though” attitude when I drove down the road. Man I loved that car.
So as I learned that I am still me and I am not dead and I am not my car I realized the wonderful gift the universe gave me by getting it stolen. The thief had a whole parking lot to choose from so why would he have chosen mine? I can imagine the universe putting a neon sign of attraction over it saying “This one this one!”
The thief then would be busy with his own life lesson and at this point it involved earning an income through making other people unhappy, stealing their cars. I wonder what my Indian friend would have to say about the Karma the thief clocks up?
So coming from a male perspective I am forever trying to find the causes of things and of course to answer the age old question. “Why do bad things happen to
