Poetry: Nonsense

Pizza Plant,

Yesterday I took outside, a pepperoni pizza slice,

I planted it so I could have a pizza plant so nice.

I dug the earth, I dropped it in, I gave it water too,

I wanted lots of pizza, so I could share with you.

But as I looked at what I’d done, I knew it was no good,

I’d have to plant a whole bunch more, to feed my neighbourhood.

So back I went into the house, to get the pizza pie,

But standing at the fridge was my sister, Lauralie!

She stood there with a silly grin, then pointed to the box,

It sat on the counter open and empty, ‘Why you little fox!”

"I needed all that pizza, so I could fill the yard,

I wanted a pizza tree," I said, "It can not be that hard."

"But now you ate the last of the pie, there is not any more!"

I didn’t have more time for her, I ran out to the store.

I had to have more pizza, for my garden to get big,

I went and bought two pizza’s, one cheese, the other figs!

On my way home with the two boxes tucked beneath my arm,

I ran into some bully kids, bent on doing harm.

I told them what I was trying to do, but they really didn’t care,

They wanted my two pizzas, they did not want to share.

I tried my best to run away, but the pizza’s slowed me down,

I knew as the hand grabbed me, this was my last day in town!

But then something happened that changed the world that day!

It started with a tiny smell, that wouldn’t go away!

That smell, I knew it well you see, it was pepperoni pie,

I turned toward my house, and saw something towering up so high!

Into the sky, it spread it’s leaves, and grew so big and tall,

The smell of pizza then filled the air, inviting one and all.

The boys just looked towards me, excitement on their face,

They said sorry right away, and asked to come to my place.

I, of course said, come on over, there’s plenty for us all,

But first go home, and to all your friends you must give a call,

Tell them of the meal I’ve made, and that they can eat some too,

Then I ran off home myself, to see my dream come true!

It was the most beautiful sight, Of that I am quite sure!

I ran to the tree, and tried the fruit, my hunger instantly cured!

The village came, and I fed them all, I didn’t mind one bit!

We ate till we could stand no more, we simply had to sit!

The tree was mostly barren now, a few slices, here and there!

To get more, I would have to love this tree and give it care!

So I picked the last of the pizza fruit, to harvest the pizza seeds,

That way I can plant more next year, and the whole world I will feed!
