In fitness, rumors spread around like junior high school all over again. The key thing to do is check with an instructor before beginning an exercise you know nothing about. Or you could check this, which would certainly be easier.
Myth 1: RUNNING IS THE BEST WAY TO GET FIT: There is no "best" way to get fit. Everyone has their own way of getting fit, whether its weightlifting, aerobics, yoga, pilates, jogging, walking, or playing a sport.
Myth 2: WATER CAUSES CRAMPS: This is a complete lie. Water is great in discouraging cramps, not causing them!
Myth 3: YOU DON'T NEED TO STRETCH: Stretching is the number one way to discourage injuries from exercising. Without it, you put yourself at risk.
Myth 4: IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GAIN MUSCLE, EXERCISE THE SAME PART EVERY DAY: Wrong. This is the quickest way to get injuries. Yes, you want to work your muscle hard, but if you keep this up while exercising ideally, you give your muscles no time to rest.
Myth 5: NO PAIN, NO GAIN: This myth states without pain, exercise isn't beneficial. In fact, fat may indicate that you have worked too hard and that it is time to cool down.
