How to raise assertive kids who can be humble too

"Assert" means to be "near a series". The question is - which series do you want to be near to?

"Humble" is apparently related to the word "humus" - mulch - and by extension to "homo" - same. Humble means "on the ground".

Assertiveness seems to be associated with the idea of setting personal boundaries and being willing to defend them. It is different to the idea of passive-aggression, which alternately suffers victimhood and then lashes out. In practice, there could be a fine line between passive-aggression and assertiveness depending on the practitioner's skill at picking a series to be "seen near".

Why not just kill two birds with one stone and be near humus to begin with? You can make it out of chickpeas. You can make it out of grass clippings. Any way you make it, you might get free entrance to the Village People.

Being serious, there's heaps that can be learnt about being assertive from growing plants (and animals). Get the kids to grow bean shoots. In only a few days, you've got a completely different plant in the bottle.
