Are you hindering your passion?

At the age of 20, I'm already on the path of trying to determine which job or career that I want to pursue in my life. At first, I thought after going thru' a certificate course in book-keeping, this will be my life time career. Lots of up and downs when you are a book-keeper, you have to maintain the books of your company. Every month end, there is the deadline for you, complete the accounts and hand this over to your accountant whom prepares the company's General Ledgers or complete the Management reports for the company, again another deadline. Deadlines and more deadlines, it's a never-ending path to figures and numbers which slowly, I'm beginning to hate it. Another rule in accounting has to be the "rubbish in and rubbish out" rule. If you key in rubbish then the management report will be rubbish too. I did that for 6 years and finally, I saw an opportunity not to be missed. A certificate in tourism, I jumped on the band-wagon and never looked back. I was fond of it and enjoyed every minute of my studies and in a year, I graduated and landed myself in the heartland of my neighborhood.

Travel has always been my passion. And teaching and imparting that skill and knowledge to other similar travelers does have that satisfaction in it. Thus, with my company sponsored trips, I am able to venture to places or new itineraries that others have not been to. Learn and read about different countries culture, people, traditions and the like. Again imparting knowledge of places which are worth promoting to and hotels which are worth staying at and has a reputable name tagged to it and many more. Vaccinations, the dos and don't of arriving at a certain countries are all valuable experiences which I share with the travelers going to that country.

With the Internet services free to anyone and everyone, it's a no wonder people are turning to the internet to source for cheap hotels, rentals, vehicle rentals, air, trains, cruises and many more. Hotels are giving out discounts to internet users/travelers and hoping that in future, they will continue to use their user-friendly services. Budget travelers are getting a lot more on this trend of booking, be it their accommodations, etc, which is a fun way of meeting up with more like-minded travelers and making new friends too. Unfortunately, what modern day people do not realize is that, no matter how friendly these internet hotel service providers are, they lack that human touch where you will get when you visit a travel agent whom will at the least smile back at you and making that personal contact with you where you will not experience in online service providers. Whichever way, you like it, be it online or getting in contact with your preferred agents, remember that its their service that you are paying for and will always be their true follower.
