Secret lovers, thieves, gamblers

Shun the dawning day

The morning light purifies

Compulsions wait for

Darkness turns to light

above the snow-capped mountains.

Night tries to fight back.

But the sun's rays can’t

Darkness has a hold

On the world and hope looks lost

As the city sleeps

On the horizon a light

Shines opening many eyes

The world is still dark:
5 a.m. while mortals sleep
just before sunrise
weary crabs make their way home
over rocks and over

As the sun rises,
So to do life's mysteries
Just what lies ahead -
Things great and remarkable,
Or an ordinary day?
