With the World becoming one in a global community sense, we have found that as we interact more with different cultures we get to learn more and understand the World better. With the growth in our communities comes with a growth in completion and a demand for excellence and an even greater need to be noticed. This demand also has a negative effect on other people who are not so prominent and causes them to feel low, unworthy, undeserving and thereby diminishing their self esteem.
To get a clear and accurate answer, understand the problem at hand. Self esteem has everything to do with how one sees themselves and how worthy or deserving they are for any good thing in life. People with a low self esteem sometimes do the extreme like kill themselves. They are ways to boost ones esteem which are less costly and less radical. Boosting ones self esteem also requires a sacrifice, you have to be willing to change your habits and friends sometimes.
Self esteem boosters are one side of the coin and to be able to have them work one should also note the flip side of the coin which is self esteem killers. Here are 5 boosters, each comes with a killer for you to stay away from.
Identify your interests and hobbies that make you smile. When you have interests, its easy to have a get away where you can be or do whatever makes you laugh and keeps your spirits high. I have golf to do that and if my friends are too busy to go with me on short notice, I go to the driving range because one does not need a team to be at the range.
Keep an up-beat media collection of books & Cd’s. If you have a favourite inspirational speaker, have copies of their Books that you can easily access. We now have Apps where you can download these inspirational book online for an easy access and easy reading
Treat yourself. You can have a quarterly get away to a posh hotel, you can go for a spa treatment, you can go to a classy restaurant for alone or with your husband, wife, boyfriend, partner or whoever you like that shares your views.
Keep upbeat positive friends only. When I was still in school I always wanted to fit in so I went with the cool boys who called me names, made me their bag carrier and treated me badly but because I wanted to fit in, I kept them around as friends. If you want a healthy self esteem, have friends who compliment you not contradict just to make you look silly.
Do not be shy, speak out. One of the greatest errors that people do when they have a low self esteem is keep silent on all matters for fear of being laughed at. Like a bully, low self esteem thrives in shyness, the greatest mistake you can make it not want to speak out, ask for help and be honesty with people who care for.
Do not accept that low self esteem is a disease. The greatest booster for those with low self esteem is the lack of labeling it as a disease. The minute you accept it as a disease, you have to get medication for it and that will give you an excuse knowing you have medication will always demand you to medicate.
Keep negative press, negative music, negative people and anything that makes you feel low, away from you always. Negative friends can be disposed of, you will always get new friends, be willing and ready to break free from your daily routine for your esteem boosters to work.
