Everybody heard it already, PayPerPost or Being Compensated for your blogging ideas. While it's a new phenomenon taking the web by surprise, there are some Do's and Don't before you start investing in them.
Firstly, know what you want out of this. Some use it for saving up for a rainy day or putting cash into the kitty which is good. However, the more people get into the market, the tougher it is for the new guys.
This guide is both for the Potential Advertiser and Blogger alike. I am a geek who spends a lot of his earnings into the research of these technology alike.
Advertiser : Know what you want
Do you want pageranks or Search Engine Optimisation or be on the top of the search results? Yes, before you buy a high PR link, research your own site of the compliance. There are a lot mistakes done by the advertiser and they see a poor return for their money. I did make a post about how SEO PageRank is passed and that is based on the aspect of the Search Engine Anatomy. Relevancy to a search is important. Do you need exposure, or some Public Relation Gimmick to drive traffic? Then Traffic Volume counts. Heard of the saying " Don't put your eggs in one basket" right? The web is just as that. Spread it about and you get appreciated more.
Blogger: Know what you want to do
Prepare a game plan. That is my main essence. Know what concept your blog will be. Do not Over Generalise. Be Specific. If you want to talk just about web development, then just talk about that and the PageRank will increase dramaticly as the engine see you as a 'web development' blog. You can add a bit of this and that, but *focus* on what you want to do.
If you have another idea, hatch it up, how half baked it is, and announce it. Split off the site for that cincept. You can utilise a subdomain instead, too. My main concern is that you make the Blog as just your 'mix-n-match' personal daily log. Don't! Be a professional.
Invest in a proper hosting and Domain name.
Research your domain name so it has relevancy to the concept you are holding to. If you can't afford one, I have some help to kick start you. Don't use a Blogger as you will find a lot of heartache to port/migrate your posts and comments over. WordPress is the common platform used for blogging too! There are a lot of add-ons written for them.
One Hosting plan is enough to host many domains, but eventually, you are selling your ideas. Ensure there is a 2 : 1 ratio of unpaid posts to paid ones, preferably at 4:1 with a lot of photos. Photos will bring on loads!
Know what you are talking about.
Do some research too. Read other people's blog and maybe pinch some ideas off it. I call this BLOGWALKING.
Before you carry on, check periodically what your ranks are. You need to know these:
-Google PAGERANK
-Alexa Stats Rank
-Technorati Ratings
-Overall advertiser rating
Google Pagerank is a huge topic, likewise with Alexa and Technorati. So I am just ending this part one with one tip: Always visit other bloggers, comment on them, be nice and then link them, and you see your earning rates go up.
