When a gentleman meets a shy lady, many thoughts can flood his mind. “Is she truly shy?” “ Could it be that she’s stuck up and would never like me?”  “Would a gal like her give a guy like a chance?”  Talking to the lady and getting the answers to these items can make or break a dating relationship.

The truly shy woman often looks either downwards or past the person who speaks to her.  She generally lacks the confidence to make the first move.  Sometimes, this stems from her having been taught earlier on the that “good girls” don’t pursue the object of their affection.  Those who meet someone resembling these characteristics should by all means go over to the lady and say hello.

To break the ice farther if she responds positively to the greeting by loosening up some, some of the oldest conversational techniques work best.  Give her a sincere compliment on how pretty her outfit, hair, eyes, or smile might be.  From there, try asking about her favorite book or movie to get the conversation started.

Shy women do not enjoy being asked for their phone number or e-mail address right off the bat.  Let the conversation flow first, answering questions she asks as she provides answers.  When conversation is truly two-way, the shy woman will appreciate the other person having taken the time to make it so.  If silent gaps arise, allow her the time to think and process what has been said before attempting a response.  Show the lady the courtesy of taking the time to think through comments and answers before saying them.

If all has gone well in the first conversation, suggest an exchange of contact information.  She may make the first call if she has enough interest.  Give her a day or two just in case this happens before calling.  Shy women sometimes need some space to think about where they want relationships to go before diving in.  She may have been hurt in the past and wish to take things slowly.  Respecting these wishes shows her a level of sincerity that could lead to a fantastic relationship.

Shy women also appreciate meeting in public for the first date or two.  Keeping things low key such as having a coffee together at lunch time or a drink after work eases the shy person into the relationship.  Traditional dinner and a movie dates can seem too high profile at first, and unless she suggests them, should be saved for
