In the confession stall I sat
Hiding my teary eyes beneath a hat
"Forgive me father, I made a mistake.
I wanted to fix it, but now it's too late."
"Tell me the story," the priest said.
"Well...it started one day when I was lying in bed.
I was thinking and dreaming of beautiful white doves...
When suddenly, it happened: I fell in love.
It wasn't on purpose, it wasn't meant to be.
It wasn't planned at all, I hope you can see.
It just happened one day when I was contemplating life.
It happened, and from then on caused me much strife.
I met a man who I disliked indeed.
For a reality check, he was much in need.
I felt like throwing at his head a tomato.
'Good grief!' I thought, 'What a couch potato!'
Charm was not the word that came to mind.
'Somebody better than this, I'm sure to find!'
But with the stealth of a cat and speed of a hawk's eye,
He stole my heart away, and now I can't lie.
Denial was something I used a lot.
I figured my love for him might be forgot.
But it stayed and didn't leave for the next couple years,
Even though it brought me heart ache and tears.
And now I'm sitting here, still madly in love,
Wishing I'd never thought of those white doves.
But no, it's too late, and now he holds the key.
I'm just waiting, still waiting to be set free."
"My child, I don't understand," the priest replied.
"Why do you act as if you'd have liked to have died?
Do you not see love as a wonderful thing?
The spice of life, the flowers of spring?"
"Try falling in love one day," I chuckled.
"See if your heart don't melt and your knee's buckle.
Though a mistake, and at that very bad,
For being in love, I'm still kinda glad."

Let's go down to the lake for awhile
we'll go fishin' cook up some chicken

WEDDING NUMBER FOUR
I've already had three husbands
and the total's set to rise
most of the folk that I know
just can't believe
As I shaved your back this morning
You smiled and you said thanks
I did not miss one spot
From your neck down to your flanks.
You

Love for me has been a drag,
I might as well have been a fag;
Instead of short and cute and witty,
I might be better
