I remember
The sandy shores of a warm, stretching beach
Frolicking kids in an ocean's frothy foam
Shells and pretty stones scattered across the sands
I remember
Sandcastles of all sizes and shapes and variations
Seagulls daringly drawing closer, testing our patience
Waves that carried us from the sea to the shore
I remember
Building deep tunnels for dozens of hermit crabs
Splashing about in the surf, scaring the fish
Burning our feet on the scorching sand and pavement
I remember
When we had to leave
