What Is the Mind of Christ?

Does it matter? What is our life? Does the "mind of Christ" have anything to do with us and our life? Should we have "the mind of Christ"? Why? What does this mean?

In I Corinthians 2:16 (in the Bible) the apostle Paul writes: "For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ." Do we have the mind of Christ? What is he talking about?

We all have our own mind and thoughts and ideas—and we cherish our own individual entity. We live our lives and make our own decisions on a daily basis. This is what life is all about! Judgment and rule, and ... this is what we are! It is our life! And no one is going to tell us differently! We live! It is a gift—and we love it!

So, "the mind of Christ" may not be all that attractive—unless we know something about Jesus Christ. Who was he, who is he?

Some years ago a High School friend and I met another school "friend" along a busy street. We said, "Hello!" and talked a little. This other guy kept talking about the offspring of female dogs. In almost every sentence that he spoke, he included the phrase, "son of a bitch." It seemed so strange—he had no idea of what he was talking about!

Sometimes people get into habits of speech and they parrot what they have heard ... and have no idea of the various meanings conveyed. Many "talk" of Jesus or Jesus Christ in a light or worldly way ... "It is cool to 'profane' any kind of authority." It shows our own superiority.

And so, the name (or meaning) of Jesus or Jesus Christ has been maligned. It is just like another curse word or "hip," acceptable word/phrase to insert into our "in crowd" vocabulary. An expression of surprise or disgust. Who would want "the mind of Christ"?

It is time to "find out" more about Jesus Christ. Why is his name so disparaged and maligned? Why is so much "negativism" dumped upon the name of someone who lived 2,000 years ago? Why is so much attention given to Jesus Christ, a humble carpenter who lived in Nazareth, Galilee?

This short article is just a little prod to you and to anyone who has heard the name of Jesus Christ and hasn't thought much about it. There is something significant in this name ... and it could even affect the success and quality of ... your life!
