Poetry: Stars

by Hailey Hackett

Created on: July 07, 2011

Lines drawn and shaded

they stretch as he yawns and talks

of stories too precious to be rated

and treasures hidden and lost

His sunken eyes trace the sky

mapping out each point

He talks of time passing bye

and how to flip a coin

His wife just stares

with salt painted cheeks

Blurred vision from tears

a constant for the last few weeks

a little boy in his old years

Giddy to sip from the vile

of his family's deepest fears

A wrinkled finger points ahead

see that star right there

her heart felt like lead

two to the right of the moon

that's where I want to spend eternity

looking over you
