In today’s technology driven empire that has progressed even further in 2011 and will likely only continue to grow in 2012 and beyond, creating a video game is a very common idea that many enthusiastic video gamers enjoy pursuing. Luckily, with these same advances in technology, the ways of actually creating a video game have also became more widely available. There are so many ways that an individual can create a video game whether from scratch or by using a program.

How to create a game on the PC

There are so many ways to create a game that can be played on the PC. Throughout the 2000’s, some of the most popular game creation programs included “Game Maker” and the RPG Maker series. The RPG Maker series are especially great for creating RPG games whether action or turn based alike. They are incredibly versatile and you can even add your own music, images and sprites to create your own perfect game in your own unique image. Many of the programs required to make games on the PC are incredibly difficult to master but nowadays, searching on YouTube can help you find guides to make even beginner game makers as close to expert as they can be. A recent RPG Maker program is IG Maker which allows you to create Zelda-like and Mario-like games.

How to create a console game

Much like when making a game on a computer, there are a number of ways that you can create a game on a console or to be played on a console. Recently, a brand new Sega Genesis game called Pier Solar was created. This game was made and can now be purchased for use on the Genesis console. Again, guides can help you create a console game from scratch. Alternatively, there are a number of game creation games out there now that can simply be purchased that subsequently allow you to make your own game. These include RPG Maker 3 on the Sony PlayStation 2 and the recent Dungeon Maker titles for the Nintendo DS and PC among many more.

Video game creation is a very versatile idea simply because there are so many genres out there and so many ways to approach the creation process. There are even college and university degrees out there that aim to train the next generation of video game developers. Whether you want to pursue video game creation as a career or as a simple hobby, there are so many ways that you can approach the idea whether form your place of education or from the comfort of your own home. Who knows; your creative talents and your game creation abilities could inadvertently spawn the next million-dollar video game franchise.
