In answering how to lose your job, most people would rather know why would you want to lose a job in the first place. There are several reasons to want to lose a job.
Maybe you work for a family member that you fear offending if you just change jobs. So, doing you job in such a way to make them choose to release you can relieve some of the responsibility of leaving. They will feel bad about firing you. You can look like the bigger person by taking it in stride and graciously accepting their apologies. Or, you may want to be able to collect unemployment insurance. In most states, it's easier to collect if you've been fired than if you quit. There are other more involved reasons, but these will suffice to explain why someone would want to be fired.
So, now we're onto the topic at hand. The first step toward losing your job is to become sloppy about attendance. Most employers dislike employees who are always late or absent. This will pile up strikes against you in rapid fashion.
Let the quantity and quality of work slide. Doing less and bad work with poor attendance will normally be enough for a pink slip within a few days or a week or two. If this seems to be failing, tell the boss off at every opportunity. Smart off and refuse to do your job. Should you have a boss with a Messiah complex, you may need to become violent or drunk on the job.
Refusing to wear safety gear will do wonders for lowering your employee status into the trash can. If all else fails, go on local TV and accuse your employer of sexual harassment or abusive behavior. Don't be patient. Push hard here and your trip to the unemployment office will be booked momentarily.
