Is there life after death? No. That's spiritually and scientifically impossible. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. It only changes form. Therefore, there is no death and life is eternal even if it's not visible on the physical plane. The proper way to discuss this concept in spirituality is to ponder the existence of a human identity or soul that remains intact after the body ceases to be viable. To do this it is necessary to separate the physical body from the conscious Life Force of the human.
It is easy to think of a body as a machine. The brain is the computer that allows the human body to function in a three-dimensional existence. It allows the arms and legs to move independently and the senses to digest the world around it. The organs function like an automobile engine. The heart recycles the blood, the lungs filter the air, and the liver filters the fuel. When the organs can no longer function properly the body ceases to be viable. The brain shuts down and the molecules that were once a living, breathing human being disperse slowly into the air to be used as the building blocks for life of a different kind It's doubtful that these molecules, without the unifying force of the brain, remember much about their previous life as human parts.
The human consciousness, however, is a different matter. Nearly every human suspects that it exists separate from yet connected to the human body. When the brain takes a break and goes to sleep, the consciousness visits worlds unfamiliar to the earthbound human. In transcendental meditation, the consciousness communicates with beings some call angels. Ask any person whether they think they have a soul or spirit and the majority will say "yes".
The question then becomes, "does the consciousness of the human being survive intact after the physical vehicle, the body, stops functioning in this world? I say, yes it does.
Humans are one the most complicated and intelligent species on the planet. We have the capability to make complex decisions for our individual selves where most species rely on instinct and pack mentality. We can choose whether we want to spend our lives helping others or "get ahead" by thinking only of ourselves. We actually build our world with ideas that we turn into physical creations. Basically, we are baby gods even though our bodies are not that much more evolved than the great apes. It just makes sense that the human consciousness is far older than the human body.
