Hot summer romance novels to take to the beach

by J.R. Lewis

Created on: July 07, 2011

Addicted to romantic reads?

Get your freak on!

Imagine this…

You.

A beautiful beach.

Sand and sun.

A tall, cold drink.

Sunglasses and the perfect lounge chair.

A little one-n-one time with yourself.

What could possible make this more perfect afternoon?

How about a steamy novel to heat up your imagination while the summer sun tickles the rest of your fancy? Not just any romance will do, oh no! Don’t settle. To reach perfection, it needs to be a little freaky. Be extra-ordinary and try the paranormal.

Here are four suggestions to sate your inner demons…

Dead Until Dark, by Charlaine Harris

You are a telepathic waitress named Sookie who lives in the small town of Bon Temp, LA, in a time where Vampires have just had a big ‘Coming out’ thanks to the invention of a blood substitute called ‘True Blood’. While working at the bar, you meet your first Vampire, Bill, and sparks start to fly. If you’re hooked, don’t worry, this is the first in a series of thirteen! Currently, there are eleven in print! And on HBO, there is a series called ‘True Blood’ that is an amazingly impressive wild ride!

Married With Zombies, by Jesse Petersen

Sarah and David are married. A rotten marriage. In counseling and at each other’s throats, they find that their love falls completely shy of domestic bliss. Then, miraculously, something happens. They start to see each other as the wonderful people they first fell in love with. All it took was the end of life as they knew it and the Zombie Apocalypse! This romantic comedy had real braaaaiiinssss!

Once a Pirate, by Susan Grant

Time Travel. Heroine, Carly Callahan is a fighter pilot for the U.S. Air Force before she’s thrown back in time to 1821. Sir Andrew Spencer, who thinks she is someone else, fishes her out of the sea.

She tries to figure out what happened .Despite her Military training and self-confidence, and her focus on getting back to her life before piracy, romance blooms. It has a very clever ending which gives a unique twist to this excellent pirate novel.

Dark Lover, by J.R.Ward

Wrath - the last purebred vampire- lives only to fight to avenge his family killed by slayers, centuries ago. He shuns his duty as the King because he is obsessed with taking his revenge on those who hurt him the most, the Lessers.

This is his story and that of his daughter, Beth; he is left to single parent when her mother is killed in action. It is because of his daughter, he learns to live again, dares to dream of the future of his species, and steps up to the throne.  This is the first of nine currently in print, each focusing on another character in the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

It doesn't matter if the vampires really get your heart beating or you'd rather get lost in time-travel-, that is, or you'd rather it be you and your honey against the world of Zombies- Any of these romantic pick-me-ups will create the inner heat your heart desires!
