The American Automobile Association (AAA) reports that millions will be hitting the roads this summer season. Many state that the reason for using this mode of travel is to experience the different landscapes and to have more of an intimate vacation with their loved ones. Of course, others believe that it is less expensive than traveling by air. But, whatever reason you decide to 'hit' the road, it's vital that you arm yourself with travel tips for the road traveler.
Inspection of vehicle
Before you venture out on the road, it's advisable to have an overall inspection of your vehicle. Ensure that tires have sufficient air and are road worthy. Do remember that the summer temperatures are very sizzling; therefore, it's imperative that you make sure that the air conditioning is working to its optimum. If you see whereby your vehicle cannot handle the long trip, by all means, rent one. Maybe, you should think of renting a mini-van so as to provide enough leg room for everyone; along with storage space.
Maps
Now-a-days, one can simply Google a destination on the Internet. However, if you desire, use the traditional way and secure a map at a gas station or any place that sells this.
Appropriate clothing
Pack light weight clothing so as to keep everyone cool and comfortable. Lean towards fabrics that require less maintenance. You don't wish to use your time ironing, etc. Ensure to pack sweaters or cover-ups for those who will become a little cool in the air conditioning. Also, pack a small pillows for nap time.
Food
Pack individual durable healthy snacks like dried fruits, crackers and nuts. Take along a cooler with ice, drinks, cut-up fruits and if you have kids, popsicles to quench thirst.
Hygiene
Take along paper towels, wet wipes, anticeptic soaps, along with disinfectant wiipes to cut down on germs and dirt during the trip. Also, it wouldn't hurt to also pack a few rolls of towel tissue. These might come in handy whey you make pit stops.
Favorite children' toys
Bear in mind that children become bored easily when traveling. In order to keep them occupied and happy, have each child take along favorite toy, book, games, CD and movies. Don't forget to include a ball for when you take a break and stretch your legs in a park. If you have a pet, grab a frisbee for 'Spot' along with his favorite treats.
While you are packing and preparing for your road trip, don't forget to pack sunglasses, sunscreen, and hats. And, while you are at it, make sure to take along your digital camera so as to capture the breathtaking landmarks and your beautiful loved ones.
