From a landlords point of view, good renters are often hard to find.
1.Yes, read the contract. It is written to protect the renter and the landlord.
2. Be courteous, when checking the place out, attitude does make a difference.
3. Be a good neighbor and you will have a good neighbor.
4. Take care of things like they were your own. If you tear something up, report it and replace it.
5. You rent it, not all your friends and relatives. Don't allow others to move in on you without landlord permission. ( others don't take care of your things like you do.) And remember you are the one on the contract.) (you break you pay).
6. Pay rent on time or talk to landlord if you have a money problem. Don't just ignore the fact that you don't have the money this month. That don't work! The landlord has bills to pay also, and your rent often has to go to pay the mortgage on the place where you are living. So by not paying rent you are only hurting yourself and your future credit.
7. Keep an open relationship with your land lord and always communicate when situations arise concerning where you are renting. Communication is a major role in having a good landlord/ tenant situation, and getting things taken care of when you need them to do something.
8. Keep the place clean. This helps keep down bug problems and sometimes mice too. You can't expect the landlord to take care of pest control if you are feeding the bugs and rodents. Dirty cloths, dirty dishes, trash left around, all causes filth and feeds the bug and rodent problem. KEEP THINGS CLEAN!
So to sum it up, Communicate, pay your rent, keep things clean, and be courteous, and you should have good renting experiences.
