We certainly do make our own luck! Our thoughts and attitudes drive us in the direction we choose. A person who thinks negatively about situations, opportunities or interactions with others creates an atmosphere of bad luck about them. Body language is subtle, words spoken have more than one meaning. A person's actions or inactions serve to either help or hurt them.
Example: Two people working the same job in different companies. One is a good natured, positive thinker with a genuine interest in contributing to the productivity of her workplace. The other person comes to work each day, works to the level required of her, but shows no initiative to find ways to improve her position. She is not a bad worker, she is just not noticed as being anything more than adequate. These two types of people mirror their lifestyles; one goes on to be happy and successful and the other achieves only what she expects.
Making ones own luck should be thought of as choosing how one should respond to life. Sad events happen, even to a person who considers themselves lucky. However, how one responds to any event, good or bad, will affect the impact of the event. You can make both good and bad luck. Obviously, you'll want to make the good kind so keep a positive outlook, be kind and generous, be open to opportunities, and good luck will be drawn to your presence.
