Gas for a Nation of Fools
No doubt big oil companies are gouging the public, there unbelievable profits tell that story clearly. This Nation was founded on "Greed" and that is what propels it along to certain collapse.
The consumer does little to reduce their use of gas and even less to conserve anything, because being blind and dumb is an American right it would appear. A terrific example of this mentality was testimony by a union representative who stated that the union was opposed to any increase in gas mileage of vehicles because it would mean the loss of jobs. Interesting, that a spokesmen for a union organization that has successfully managed to reduce the employment rate in the industry, seen numerous manufacturers go out of business and now in light of the fact that US Manufacturers have totally lost their competitive edge he is happy to preside over the end of US car manufacturing and we will get to see in less than ten years only one US car company and the unions almost no employment, and he wants gas guzzlers.
Everyone reading this can remember when gas stations did not all have the exact same price per gallon, they do now and why? Certainly large chains have more buying power, so why is the price uniform, could it be price control!
Americans are unwilling to bite the bullet and face up to the fact that one day and sooner than they think oil will run out, what then? The government continues to give incentives, tax forgiveness to oil companies and throws money at them literally, along with giving them oil leases for nothing or close to it. No Nation may ever defeat this country in a war and they do not have to, we will do it to ourselves and willingly become less than a third world nation.
