It is a myth that a diet will help you lose weight. They will help when your on the diet, but no one stays on a diet for life. When you finish the diet, your old habits will come back, and so will the weight. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to combine aerobic exercise, strength, flexibility training and nutrition.
The way the body works is that you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you intake. The best way to burn calories is through a combination of aerobic, strength and flexibility training. Aerobic activity is a exercises that will get your heart pumping such as running, biking, dance, and swimming. Strength training is an excellent way to burn calories since muscle requires calorie intake, so the calories will go to feed the muscle instead of creating fat. Weightlifting is the appropriate way to build strength. A flexible body through stretches and yoga will prevent injury to the body from an active lifestyle.
Nutrition is simple. Do not eat fast food and limit food from restaurants. Eat nutritious meals of fruit, vegetables, lean meats such as chicken and fish. Stay away from the sweets and fried foods. I didn't say it's easy to loose weight, but the common sense of it is simple.
