Understanding naps: How babies needs change over time

Lack of sleep causes various health problems in children. Not only that it also decreases the concentration in children and thus it affects the children behavior also. Generally how much sleep is enough for children depends on their age. Generally infants require 15 to 18 hours of sleep till their 6th month. Later the sleeping hours are generally reduced to 13 to 14 hours in a day. Within 6 months infants need only milk. So they goes to longer naps for 4 to 5 hours. But after the 6th month, their napping style will vary. They take shorter naps for 2 hours during the day. 1 year baby generally take 3 short naps in the morning and sleeps minimum 8 hours through the whole night. When your children become 2years old, she generally takes nap maximum 2 times during the day. When your child crosses 2 years and enters into 3rd year, she generally takes only a single nap during the day. SO obviously 1 to 3 years aged children takes minimum 11 hours of sleep in 24 hours
