Dating for Seniors:Watch out!

Once a woman passes a certain age, dating becomes more complicated. For one thing, men die younger than women, resulting in fewer men to choose from. Older men usually prefer younger women. So the pool of eligble candidates for dating becomes shallower. As the dating pool shrinks, the candidates quality decreases. After fifty-five, a woman needs to consider all kinds of things before actually dating a man.

1. Age. The range in suitable ages shrinks. Sure, it's okay to date someone younger than yourself, but you might ask yourself why is a man ten or eleven years your junior inteterested in an older woman? Are your tastes in music, activities, books, food similar or at least compatible because your history in those areas will be very different.

2. Finances. A woman who is financially independent must absolutely watch out for the man who hopes to find food, shelter and clothing through a female.

3. Sex. A woman who wants a sexual partner may not find one in her own age group. Yes, Viagra may help, but most men peak sexually in their early twenties. Women on the other hand usually peak around the time of menapause. At least ask if he is capable. He may lie about it, so watch out.

4. Health. Some men look for caretakers. If you like the nursing role, this guy is for you.

5. Housekeepers. Watch out for the man who lost a "good" wife who cooked and cleaned and did the laundry. One man actually bragged that his wife met him at the door, martini and slippers in hand every night when he came home from work. A half hour later dinner would be on the table. He wanted another marriage like that.

6. Previous relationships. Immediately rule out anyone who has divorced more than once, has children that are overly protective or possessive, or keeps an altar to a diceased spouse.

So who's left? Good men of the right age wanting a new relationship based on love, equality and self[reliance do still exist. Don't accept anything less.
