Seeing America On The Cheap! Camp Hosting Has Open New Doors For Us!
I was able to retire at an early age, after putting in over 32 years and never missed a day. We decided, since we loved camping, and have been camping for most of the 37 plus years of marriage, we would venture into this new world of "Camp Host ~ ing".
Most places will give you your space in exchange for 20 hours of "Hanging Out". There is certain things to do, such as check people in, collect the money and a few more things. Other places that want us to "Work", we decline. If I wanted someone to whine and tell me what to do all the time, I would have stayed at the job I had. It paid better.
We are more the "Meet and Greet" people. Meeting people from all over the world, sharing each others stories. Some
amp Host places, even pay a little money, which helps especially with the cost of gas going up, so high. But the rewards of these adventures are priceless! So far I have written 2 e Books about the based on true stories of the campgrounds, their campers and the animals.
We had been up at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, last summer. The forest fires were really bad. Not only the smoke but late at night the red glow would seem to creep closer. When I finished my 60 days, I wanted to get as far as possible away from the fire as possible. We ended up at a horse campground in N. CA.
The night we arrived, my wife and I talked about not seeing many animals. We had only seen some deer outline in the dark, up at the N. Rim, and many miceThe next morning when we opened our living room blinds, in our RV, our mouths dropped. A huge bear was walking down the road, right toward us. Must have been 400 lbs.
After that, we enjoyed him, the momma bear and 2 cubs for most of our stay. The stories I was able to write about these bears, campers and horses were so funny.
The campground was in the middle of an old orchard, with plenty of apples, pears and berries. At night we would hear them in the trees near our RV, just crunching on apples and pears.
We also would see them lying in berry bushes, like floating on a cloud.
We were very sad to leave that campground, but to see America, you can't stay in one place. Check Out Camp Host ~ ing, even if you want to stay 2 or 3 months at a place or area. Well worth it in many ways! From the people you meet with stories to the animals, nature and scenery. To the savings of money!
If you have an RV or as I call it, my little apartment, this is heaven on earth vacation! Just
