I say "Yes!". Stanley Tookie Williams was executed for his crimes. He was the founder and active participant in one of the most notorious criminal elements in this world. He lead a criminal empire that was responsible for numerous deaths, and other assorted crimes. That empire still thrives to this day and has creeped it's way into organizations such as the NFL. "The NFL?" you say, yes the NFL. The National Football League: a group of grown men playing football for money, alleged role models for today's youth.
Before I go on with the NFL "thing" let me say that I would never insinuate that all members of professional sports, particularly the NFL are 'gang members'. This is merely a documented example.
Maybe he did not carry out all of the murders himself, but neither did Hitler. Hitler was merely the voice of Nazism: He had thugs, generals, henchmen and other criminals under his direct control. Williams had his "Lieutenants", thugs, henchmen, and other criminals under his direct control. The effects of Hitler's reign of terror are still evident in todays society with groups such as the National Socialist Party of North America. Hussein had his "Republican Guard" composed of professional soldiers, thugs, and other henchmen.
Would Hitler have been spared any type of execution? The most apparent answer to that is a resounding 'no!'. But, you could say now that the world "will never know". All three of these individuals were textbook 'madmen'.
Saddam Hussein was not directly responsible for all the atrocities he was convicted of, yet he was hung for the world to see.
I would not say that Williams' crimes whether directly or indirectly involving him truly compare to Hitlers' or Husseins. I would argue that they are very similar circumstances.
The religious side would argue that none can judge save for God Himself. I'm not arguing against that belief. I am merely pointing out that here, in the secular world, we are judged by bodies of people; our peers. We are pronounced guilty or innocent based on their collective feelings towards us and our alleged or actual crimes. Remember, "...a government of the people, by the people, and for the people...."?
The difference, allegedly, was that Williams 'changed'; he was 'rehabilitated' and found God. This did not occur overnight, this took place over a period of years. Had Hitler, or even Hussein been forced to spend a gross amount of time in solitary confinement or in an American
