Dress up as a leprechaun. I always think it's cute to see babies dressed up as leprechauns for St.Patrick's Day. If you want to raise money for charity, go around in a public place with a pot for some "lucky gold". Get permission to visit a hospital, prison, or seniors' home dressed up and hand out shamrocks and green candies. If you can bring your dog, dress it up with a green collar and shamrock antlers. (This is if you can get your pet to tolerate it- Good luck!) Greet your friends with the outfit on and make Irish potato pancakes, cabbage and corned beef for dinner. Wear a shamrock. I really like to put on a green headband with shamrocks on springs attached to it. Drink green colored Guinness beer (responsibly!) and sing Irish drinking songs. Learn some Irish. Do an Irish jig to some Irish music. Watch a movie about leprechauns such as "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" or a documentary about Ireland. Teach your kids about St.Patrick by looking him up in an encyclopedia or on the Internet. You could spark their interest in Ireland, its history, and culture in general. Since some universities offer courses in Irish language, you might want to investigate them. One of these is St.Francis Xavier University. http://www.stfx.ca
