The thing you should know about drinking tap water in Mexico, is that there you shouldn't drink it. That even, includes ice. Since, our bodies are not acclimated to the bacteria in the water, we can become very ill. Only people who live in the area, should drink the water. It takes time to develop a tolerance for the water in Mexico, so your body can handle it.
It you visit Mexico, you must use bottled water and make sure that to use their ice. It doesn't take much to become ill, so you must be very cautious. It wise to eat in established restaurants in a resort, where the food is rinsed with purified water.
After my experience of getting ill in Mexico, I am extremely cautious now. You must look out for yourself on your trips. And, this includes all places. Enjoy your vacations, but careful.
