Heres my top 5 cocktails straight from the Emerald Isle. I've used the more popular ones that show up in my local pub here in Cork.
1) Paddy's Girl
A shot of Irish Whiskey
A shot of Baileys Irish cream
A shot of Kahlua or a Chocolate liqueur of your choice.
A shot of espresso.
Pour all the ingredients into a blender
Blend until smooth and creamy
Pour into a margarita glass, with chocolate shavings sprinkled on top.
2) Baileys Chocolatini
2 shots of baileys Irish cream.
A shot of Vodka
A shot of Chocolate liqueur
3 raspberries or strawberries.
Mix Baileys with the vodka and the liqueur.
Shake with ice and strain into a Martini glass.
Add berries.
3) Baby Guinness.
A shot of tia maria or kahlua
Baileys Irish cream
Place Tia Maria/Kahlua into a shot glass, carefully pour a small amount of baileys on top, so it will float and look like a mini pint of stout.
Drink.
4) Irish Cream Cafe
A shot of Baileys Irish cream
A shot of a coffee liqueur - such as kahlua
A shot of a Hazelnut liqueur.
A cup of coffee.
Whipped cream.
Pour alcohol into a tall coffee mug, add freshly made coffee. Top with freshly whipped cream and cinnamon if desired.
5) Irish Mule.
A shot of Irish whiskey.
2 slices of ginger root.
A shot of lime juice.
1 teaspoon of brown sugar.
a shot of ginger beer.
A slice of lemon or lime.
Slice up the ginger and place it at the bottom of a mixer. Add sugar. Add lime juice and whiskey and shake. Strain and serve over ice in a slim jim glass. Top with ginger beer and slice of lemon or lime.
And, a bonus cocktail. Without any name i've ever heard......
This one should be approached with caution. Yes, it looks simple enough - but the combination of all the cream liqueurs means that it can take time for the full effects of the alcohol to hit you.
A shot of Baileys
A shot of Kahlua
A shot of butterscotch schnapps
A shot of Cointreau.
Simply mix all together with crushed ice or without and drink. Beautiful.........but very powerful. Take care with this one.
