Who are easier to get along with: Fathers-in-law or mothers-in-law?

A lot of mothers-in-law just don't know how to cut the apron strings. This is obvious from daily phone calls to guilt trips about coming over for dinner. But for those who do know when to cut the strings, they will love you, help you, remember your birthday, and help re-enforce your marriage. They will come when called, and try not to call when they aren't needed. A good mother-in-law can be a great resource for your family and another person who loves you.

A father-in-law is generally much more distant, that is why you can get along with them easier. A good father-in-law will not shy away from a teaching moment, but will chose his words wisely. He won't take over a project, but will sit back or quietly offer help. It may take longer for him to love you, but he will be quick to admire you.

Any good in-law will listen and not judge, console and not remember the issue, and smile and turn away when necessary.
