Academic Qualifications?...There are None. If you look up successful people in business, a good number didn't have formal education at all. Including Henry Ford, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Edison. I know you may think that these people were special, but who says you can't be special too?
A little background on me. I was in college for 10 years, and honestly I didn't go anywhere with it. I barely got an associates degree. I am self-educated now and have become a philosopher. You too can educate yourself for way less time and money. Now, I have to rebuild from the student debts and time wasted. The advisors and counselors can't do anything for you. Careful about taking their advice.
A future business owner will have a hard time in school. I know, I did. I did learn some things while in school. Though I would say about 20% of what I learned has worked for me.
I have nothing against education. But these days, students are taking a lot of risk, for very little reward. That's one reason why business majors, don't do so well running their own business. Then they go back to getting a job and living their life. Students really need to go on a discovery process to see who they really are and how they can "Give before they Go".
Here is some advice. Read like 10 books on business and investing. Then read another 10. Then you will have a better idea about taking classes or not.
If you really want. You can take some college classes, the ones you want. Not the ones, your counselor provides. I am big critic of today's education. In fact I wrote a book on it, titled, "Don't Get Hustled". If you do a search you will find it. My book also has my own story about money and investing, plus a success guide and chart.
If you are meant for Business, you go for it. It's that simple.
Here are some things to consider about college and success.
College is a Business.
A college degree is no guarantee.
Your counselor is a sales rep.
Your student loans are not dischargeable.
College is a Casino.
Success requires Self-Education.
Success doesn't require a college degree.
