analog in digital village
espresso folowed by hasty hearts
fumbling through fractured small talk
over fried rice and yuppie gumbo.
She sips Perriier recounting
dreams of Wellsley and Vasser
exploding chipmunks and daddy's
reclamation of her credit card.
He mutters his shock at
her father's betrayal over oysters
and fruit compote all the while
silently saluting pop's sagacity.
Towards the end of it all they
spoon sushi at each other
as if they foundl life to be so
immensely astonishing.
