There are practical ways of protecting a laptop. From the laptop and operational functions of a laptop, there are a few ways that would help a user to keep his or her laptop working properly. The first way would be to buy or use a good free anti virus and computer security suite. The cost of owning a product like Norton 360 or similar would be money worth spent. Norton 360 for example does a lot of protection tasks such as scanning for viruses, checking files and other scans for viruses and other problems. The scans of the computer can also include tasks such as registry clean ups, firewall protection and blocking virus websites that might be clicked when surfing the Internet. Also the live updates should also be downloaded and updated regularly to ensure that the latest protection definitions are located on the laptop. In addition software updates from Microsoft should be downloaded and installed to enable the latest patches and security files onto the laptop.
Other computer tasks such as laptop protection can include tools such as disk fragmentation which will scan the laptop sectors and the laptop so that file space can be maximized and improves the system performance. Disk clean up, removes and deletes temporary windows files and Internet files that are not needed. People can also remove and delete programs and software components such as add-ons and accessories that are not used, to free up more disk space.
An important area of a laptop is in the file storage and back up of important files. Such documents, programs should be saved onto a flash memory device so that in case of data loss or some mishap, the files are stored securely on a memory stick. Separately the laptop when finished should be turned off completely to save electricity. In addition the laptop should be charged when on the move so that there is enough battery power to complete tasks on the laptop.
The handling of a laptop is also worth having a look at, people should store the laptop it in a protective sleeve or use a laptop case. These are relatively inexpensive ways to store a laptop for safety. In addition, people should not leave a laptop in direct sunlight or dust or outside in the rain, don't use the laptop near water or other electrical appliances. Dust, sunlight and rain have an adverse effect on laptop performance. In the event of rain or something spilling on a laptop the consequences can be quite severe. Therefore avoid eating and drinking near a laptop.
