Overview of the trials of Jesus

by Anthony Brown

Created on: May 30, 2011

The primary word which illustrated the trails of Jesus is silence. Jesus did not rebuke a word towards His defense. Instead He only spoke directing the attention of what the crowd claimed Him to be. Jesus was accused of blasphemy base on the lifestyle he lived and the name He carried. This was supported by witness, but Jesus did not deny His name. He simple did not argue the reasoning for it being true. This showed no guilt within His conscience. There were no guile in His words; thus silence. This is considered fact as we read in the scriptures of John.

“The Jews insisted, ‘We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.’

When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, and he went back inside the palace. ‘Where do you come from?’ he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer. ‘Do you refuse to speak to me?’ Pilate said. ‘Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?

Jesus answered, ‘You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.’”     John 19:7-11   NIV

If Jesus worried, doubt, or was uncertain of His defense, He would have appeared as a man who needed to fight for His life. This would appear as a characteristic of a scared innocent man whom, within their own mind, knew Him to be. Now with all authority of the land stripped from the Son of God’s feet, the religious and governmental leaders only needed to confirm one thing; fear.

Jesus demonstrated no fear. He revealed no guilt. There was no dismay within His pain and agony within His submission towards his crucifixion on the cross. This portrayed only one moral within the reality of His trails; judgment. And since Jesus was silent and gave no speech, neither lecture, nor argument for His defense, the logic of His judgment for the accusations rested in God and God alone. It was through Jesus trails, not His ministry, miracles, and parables teachings where His father, God , established total claim of justice towards the
