Poetry: Faithfulness

The face no longer sparkles,

the voice no longer feels like singing.

The body measures every weight,

the muscles strain to carry on.

And yet, and yet

the ears pick up a song of hope

far out on the horizon

and the feet still walk each precious step

toward that brighter light.
