Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
To keep our faces toward change
and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate
is strength undefeatable.
-Helen Keller
When a woman is empowered, she has strength immeasurable, courage in an incorrigible world, and stamina and wisdom that defies all reason. Women wear numerous hats. From mothers, to professional executives and anywhere in between, she assumes whatever necessary role. Women are teachers and leaders, lovers and mothers and yes... a force to be reckoned with.
Confidence
There’s a difference between a woman of confidence and a woman who is arrogant. Quite simply what separates the two is knowing the difference. An arrogant woman is full of pride and self without thought to those around them. Their ego extends beyond themselves in a grandiose manner.
A confident woman is secure in her ability to handle authority in an appropriate manner. She can delegate authority with grace and dignity. She has qualities of a leader and is fair and responsive to matters where decisions need to be made, and made appropriately.
Knowledge
Perhaps the adage knowledge is power says it best. Knowledge is empowering on many levels. Knowledge allows us to make informed decisions, therefore laying a foundation in which to build on for all aspects of life.
There have always been two ways in which one can learn about life. There’s always been education (book smarts), and there’s always been the “hard knocks of life” education (street smarts). One can learn from each or both, yet much like a fork in the road of life, which road will you take?
Independence
Independence is the freedom from control or influence from others according to WordWeb. Independence also means the ability to be self-supporting. When a woman feels independent, it builds her level of confidence and sense of self. A woman of independent means doesn’t mean there’s no room in her life for a companion; it simply means she’s not identified because she has a companion.
Inspiration
A woman empowered is inspired by her abilities, choices, and surroundings. Inspiration comes from within therefore she’s gained perspective and with perspective comes wisdom. The ability to carry this off in todays’ world is ingenious at best.
More and more women are entering the political arena. With education as our foundation, the glass ceiling is no longer an obstacle, but now more of a challenge and one that can be surmounted with determination, self-assurance and the will to “never give up!"
In conclusion, one need only look through our history books and see the battle that was fought with all the above aforementioned and then some. If not for the courage of the women before us, we would not be where we are today.
As a woman, I take pride in not only my accomplishments, but in all accomplishments of women all over the world. We are a sisterhood unlike any other, and there’s honor, balance and wisdom unlike anything the world has ever known. That alone is empowering!
