Life's lessons from hanging drywall

There are lessons to be learned in any job you do. Many people continue to make the same old mistakes and get the same old results, and wonder why. From hanging drywall, a few of the multitude of life's lessons one might learn are:

1. Do a good job the first time. It is easier to do this than to have to go back and fix mistakes later. When mistakes are made fix them promptly. If you are a professional this concept will build you a good reputation.

2. Persistence is the key. Hang in there and keep working - the more breaks you take and the more you goof off, the longer the job will take.

3. Hard work and a job well done is something to be proud of. If you are working in your own home, you will always be able to look at the space you have drywalled and know you did it!

4. Be as prepared as possible. There is nothing more frustrating than being in the middle of a job and realizing you don't have enough nails to finish. Think ahead and plan.

5. Attitude is everything. Who wants to work with a complainer? Smile and go on, no matter how tedious the job is. It will make the job go by faster.

These little lessons apply not only to hanging drywalling, but to just about any job you take on in life - from washing dishes to preparing a marketing presentation.
