I know you watch me
Looking for a little snatch
Of a whisper of my life.
I know that you wait
For a call that will never come.
You question
Those who have knowledge of me.
People who I trust.
You undermine that trust
And lose a little more of me,
Every time you ask a casual “how is she?”
Our time was long ago
From a time distant in my mind.
The abuse has become a forgotten hurt,
And the memory of your face
Has become so dim now.
I am moving on.
I want you to know that I can’t forget the pain.
But I forgive you
Forget the past.
It’s time to go.
Let me go.
Let me go.
Let me go.
