Poetry: A girl I know

by Stephanie Monroy

Created on: May 28, 2011

When he met her she was broken, but she hid it quite well

He could see through the mask, the pain that lay dormant within her heart

It cried out to him, he could see it through her eyes, although she smiled

He could heal her, he could posses her, he could love her

Although she was hesitant at first, what was left of her heart she gave willingly to him

She fell into the deep cool pool of his captivating eyes, his every word melted on her tongue

Her mind began to race with fantasies of their love, and unspoken passions

For love her he did, but his lust for life was greater

He was her world, and she was just something in his

The words of affection became less frequent, the longing to love her diminished

Until all that was left were photographs, and broken promises

As she stood before him, pleading for his love with tears in her eyes

He knew that he was the cause of this sorrow, and although he knew that it would destroy her

He crushed her soul, as he said he no longer wanted her

The light in her eyes vanished, and the girl he once knew died that day
