During desperate times when money is really tight, some people will look at writing articles to earn a few dollars.  Unfortunately, most people make very little money at it, less than 10 dollars a month.

Online writing doesn't just require the writer to produce quality and quantity.  It requires knowledge about search engine optimization as the articles do need to receive high rankings in order to be read and make your money.  This can somehow be a challenging task as not all of us necessarily know how to go about it the right way.

But before you study search engine optimization, it is essential to know that popular topics such as health and wellness, money and business, relationship issues and exotic and adventurous travel destinations are some of the highest in demand.  The search for those topics is much greater than a subtopic that would teach you how to knit a sock.  Find out what people want to know about. Understand that certain topics don't have a long book-shelf life such as the latest gossip about George Clooney.  Find topics that will be of high interest whether it is 2011 or 2020.

Before we focus on the art of search engine optimization, a few details about quality articles need to be mentioned.  Your most important line will be your title.  It is what will capture your readers attention in wanting to learn more about the subject.  If it sounds boring, very few people will click on your article.  Few clicks won't make you a lot of money.  They will barely pay for the sugar and cream in your coffee.  Your title needs to be exciting, mysterious, shocking, etc, just enough to capture their interest.

Your introduction which follows your title is the second most important aspect of your article.  It should briefly refer to the subject to keep people interested.  Boring introductions will turn the reader away.

Now it is time to look at search engine optimization.  Let's say you want to write an article and have found your niche.  Great, now you have to find the perfect keywords that you will distribute throughout your article.  You will first go to Google's AdSense page and research the rankings of those keywords.  If I write about alternative healing option for osteoarthritis, I probably would enter several keywords that pertain to my subject and find out which one is really great in demand.  I found out that osteoarthritis is in high demand.  So, I make
