Developing Leadership Skills in Children
Children learn best by being actively engaged in the process. One of the best ways to develop leadership skills in your child is by proving opportunities to develop responsibility, integrity and other qualities of a good leader.
Children learn what they live. Teaching leadership skills can and should begin in the home. A good way to teach responsibility is by giving your age appropriate tasks or chores for which they are responsible. Modeling the characteristics that you wish child to acquire is very important.
Involving your child in community or church activities such as sports, clubs, youth groups or mission trips is another fantastic way to develop leadership skills. Children enjoy helping others. Participating in food drives, Habit for Humanity or volunteering at the local shelter helps your child develop a sense compassion for those who are less fortunate.
