For a gamer; missing out on one of the biggest hits of the year or never having played a game that was revolutionary is very irritating. Every one will be talking about it while that one gamer will fell left out. Some games are so good that its hard to find them online and when you do, it’s a battle of wits to out bid the other guy. Rarely will stores carry any discontinued game and when they do its priced more than $50.
Some could be found on Steam, Xbox Arcade, or PlayStation Network but one would be surprised how high the demand for a physical copy is.
Metal Gear Solid for the PS1, PC and the GameCube remake are among the most hardest games to find. In the game; terrorist have taken over a nuclear disposal site in Alaska and are threatening to fire nukes unleash the government gives in to their demand. In response; the government has requested former Fox Hound operative Solid Snake to contain the threat. Snake is deployed to the site and during his mission encounters an unusual conspiracy that is bigger threat then a nuclear war.
Metal Gear Solid has been ranked as one of the best games of all time. It has one of the best gameplay during its time along with one of the most memorable story and character development. To no surprise with its limited quantity, it has become difficult to acquire a copy due to its high price (remaining from $50 - $200). However the original version is available on PSN for $10.
Another hard to find game is the original 007 Goldeneye for the N64. There is a reason why Goldeneye has been hailed as one of the best games of all time. Like fine wine, this game has gotten better with age. It was the first shooter to give gamers unlimited freedom to cause havoc with an abundance of weapons at their disposal. Success or fail, gamers can continue on reigning havoc . As you progress, gamers could unlock special levels and cheats to enhance the experience.
Its spiritual successor, Perfect Dark for the N64 is also fun yet rare to find. From the creators of Goldeneye, Rare attempts to successfully emulate the game-play of the best shooter and add some extra bonuses. Yes it feels like Goldeneye upgrade but the too futuristic levels are so poorly designed that only a few have any replay value. Yet its that Goldeneye feeling that gives Perfect Dark that replay value.
For PC gamers, Return to Castle Wolfenstein was something gamers have been waiting for decades back in 2001. It was the long awaited sequel to the game that started the FPS genre. Built on the Quake III engine and combining the elements of FPS and horror, Return to Castle Wolfenstein truly lived up to the expectation and it earned the “Game of the Year” award. American agent B.J. Blazkowicz is dispatched to Castle Wolfenstein to investigate the activities of the Heimlich Himmler and the SS Paranormal Division. Upon arrival, he is captured needs to escape while uncovering the Nazi Secrets. To his horror, Blazkowicz discovers that Himmler is planning to resurrect an ancient demon in hopes of using his power to win the war.
Another hard to find PC game is actually very surprising, the original Day of Defeat. Like Counter Strike, DOD was a multiplayer Half Life mod that became very popular. DOD was a WWII-themed game that had gamers play as either American, Nazi or the British Army in later versions. The game was ported to Steam yet a few elements were removed (like a few levels and playing as the British Army). Very few sites have the original DOD available for download or one could try their luck at eBay.
