Newt Gingrich has decided to run for President of the United States, according to a CNN report. Gingrich is former speaker of the house. He will run under the Republican ticket. He is the only serious Republican candidate at this time, according to the report. Gingrich said that he believes he can help give American hope and opportunity again.
Gingrich gave a speech that was reported on
ABC News. In the speech, he talks about Obama's love for Ronald Reagan. He states that "Obama is no Ronald Reagan". Gingrich said that he will concentrate on new jobs, a balanced budget and decentralized government. He also stated that he believed that Barack Obama should be "ashamed of himself for using dishonest scare tactics." He was referring to the Republican stand on the budget and immigration.
Gingrich could very well upset the Obama administration and the bid for a second term for democrats. Obama's approval rating went up shortly after Osama Bin Laden was killed during a raid on his compound in Pakistan. It is unclear whether that will stay strong throughout the campaign. There are many issues that caused Obama's approval rating to enter a downward spiral after his election. There have been small progresses in important areas, but Obama seems to sometimes change with the tide. It is difficult to say how he will stand against a candidate such as Newt Gingrich. It all depends on America's view on how well Obama performed on his campaign promises of change in the last election.
Gingrich announced his candidacy on his Twitter account. He has strong ideas of what should happen for the United States future. Politics in the United States have gotten off track in the past when the election process became more of a mudslinging fest than candidates standing on the issues that need to be addressed.
Gingrich has a very strong background in politics and knows how the game works. He hails from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Gingrich writes a blog which allows citizens to see his views on different issues that may come up in the election. It is a good idea for all citizens to keep alert about what the candidates are saying. Reading the blog may help determine whether or not the candidate is what the citizen sees as someone who will run the government as it should be run. In any case, the election will be an interesting one as Americans watch it unfold. The candidates will go full force on the election trail soon and America will once again decide who is best suited for the position of the most powerful person in the United States.
