Often, when foundation and powder are properly applied, the result is an airbrush finish. There is nothing better than achieving that porcelain look to your skin. However, there is nothing worse than a massive amount of oil coming through and ruining your perfect makeup. It is an unfortunate fact that a myriad of people suffer from oily skin. Rest assured that there are ways to combat this skin type. Following are some makeup tips for those with oily skin.
Create an Effective Skin-Care Regimen
The truth is that great skin begins before you ever open a bottle of cosmetics. Before you even think about applying a dab of makeup to that skin, your face must be clean and well cared for. Make sure that you find a facial wash that is specifically designed for oily skin. Otherwise, you might notice your skin feeling greasy after a wash. Also, look for a good, alcohol-free astringent. The astringent should leave your skin feeling smooth and refreshed. If your skin is extremely oily, avoid applying any moisturizer except for the area right around the eyes. Always apply moisturizer with your ring fingers to avoid stretching and pulling at the skin.
Find the Correct Cosmetics
Now that your skin is clean and properly cared for, you can finally begin the fun part. Before you apply makeup, you must make sure that you have the right formulas for your face. You should shop specifically for a foundation that was designed for oily skin. Always look for a water-based foundation – never an oil-based one. If you are having trouble selecting makeup for an oily face, do not hesitate to seek help. Next time you are in a department store, simply stroll over to the cosmetics department. Try asking the sales associate for help. Usually, the sales associate can try out different cosmetics on your face until you find the perfect formula.
Always be Prepared
If you suffer from oily skin, there are certain items you should have on you at all times. Firstly, try carrying a portable powder compact in your purse. This way, you can touch up oily areas throughout the day. Also, you might benefit from carrying oil wipes with you. These are easy to find in most drug stores. Fortunately, most of these wipes will not ruin your makeup. Another good tip is to avoid intense heat. Heat seems to exacerbate sweating and oily skin.
