The best chick flicks for a guy are relationship films that allow him to laugh, or reminisce, about the people, places and events that he (or someone he knows) has experienced in life.  Sometimes these events are life changing (an engagement, wedding or divorce); related to high school or college (strange classmates, parties, the girls he dated or people he met); involve work related incidents (struggling to get a promotion or issues at work with bosses/colleagues); or highlight the intimate/not-so-intimate moments that have occurred in his love life (romantic interludes or lover's quarrels).  Since his options are limited to romantic comedies or tear-jerkers, a guy will choose the romantic comedy because at least he'll have a few laughs.  If the theme of the movie involves sports, fantasy, or action, that is an added benefit.  Most of the films on this list performed well at the box office and should keep guys well-entertained.

1) A League of Their Own (Rated PG) A charming fictional sports story about the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League that was founded in 1943.  The women's baseball league gave fans something to cheer about during a time when many men were serving their country during World War II.  Cast includes: Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Madonna, Jon Lovitz, Garry Marshall, Bill Pullman and Rosie O'Donnell.

2) Monster-In-Law (Rated PG-13) A romantic comedy that takes a look at the one person who can throw a wrench into any well-planned engagement - the mother-in-law.  Handsome Dr. Kevin Fields falls head over heels in love with Charlotte "Charlie" Cantilini.  Enter Kevin's mother, Viola Fields.  In Viola's world, things are not going well.  Viola is told that she is being replaced from her television talk show and has a mental breakdown.  Kevin is all that she has left.  When Kevin schedules a lunch date at his mother's mansion so that he can introduce Charlotte, the two women get along well.  All of a sudden, Kevin decides to propose to Charlotte right in front of his mother.  Charlotte says "yes" and Viola is stunned - she can't lose her one and only son.  The beast within slowly begins to emerge as Viola tries to sabotage Kevin and Charlotte's relationship and prevent the duo from getting married.  This leads to all out war between Viola and Charlotte.  Cast includes: Jennifer Lopez, Michael Vartan, Jane Fonda and Wanda Sykes.
