Day light finds me naked, swimming,
Dawn poured red with purpose come,
Light break slow into liquid shadow,
Spray foam tips my open tongue,
My speed is casual,
Though I progress,
The bank goes by my churning waters,
As I pull the river past my chest,
Below me glides the maiden form,
Her soft lines just beyond my reach,
Her sleeping lips still move in slumber,
Her current running cool and deep,
I cannot reach the shaded depth,
I cannot touch the grassed beach
I pull my river past my body,
Cursed to cut on through this current,
While sunlight paints her deeper shadows,
She drifts quiet, just past my reach.
