It is important to understand what your mate wants in your relationship to be able to make it work. The best way to understand this is communication. Communication is key in any kind of relationship, but especially a dating relationship. The girl in the relationship might want more than you know of, and it is important to understand what she wants.

Talk to her about what she wants in a relationship. Not all relationships are built on looks, and most are based on fun, trust, and compatibility. You should not feel upset if the two of you are not compatible, as not all relationships work out.

Physical attraction may not be everything that a relationship is about, but it does have some meaning. It is very hard to have a romantic relationship when you are not physically attracted to your partner. Keep in mind personal hygiene is crucial in a relationship, though it is common sense, it is quite important.

Keep your head up. Girls like their men strong in a relationship. They do not like a man who is depressed, or is constantly doubting themselves. If there is things that you either do not like about yourself, or something you are not good at, work on it. Just don't make it the only thing you talk about with your girl.

Be smart. You can even be smart without having to be a genius. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and you want to be sure that you show off your strengths to your partner. It gives you the appearance of being quite intellectual, even if you are or not. Communication with your partner may even help you learn new things, such as hobbies and interests that your partner enjoys or excels at.

Never lie. Even though you might not have the best past, or something you may have in the past that you are not proud of, you should never lie about it. She will either find out from someone else and be upset about it, or you will have to tell her the truth down the road and she will be upset that you never told you the truth. Just be honest and explain the situation, she will be more likely to understand.

Protect your girl, but don't overwhelm her. Everyone is an individual and needs their own space, but she will want to know that she can count on your when she needs you.

There are many things that girls can need or want in a relationship, but it is important to talk to her to find out what she wants from the relationship. There may be things you can already do, or things that you can work on to improve the relationship and show her that you really care.
