Nobody knows if they are born for greatness. However, they can achieve greatness in two ways. One way is to have your own ambitions and aspirations; if you achieve them, in your own personal way, you can/have achieve(d) greatness. The second way you can achieve greatness is to obtain a position of authority and be respected for it.
Greatness can be defined differently by every individual.
You 'know' if you're born for greatness because you may have a unique talent/quality, or are very good in an all round general way with qualities and talents. Either way, people can be 'great' in their own ways anyway.
However, you do not need to possess any specific characteristics to be prepared to be great. You can learn it along the way as you learn through life.
In short, some people may have it, some people might not want it, and others may be able to learn it.
