Poetry: Final endings

by Marina Bradaric

Created on: May 09, 2011

It's funny how it can end so quickly now

when it felt so right from the start;

We tried and tried but somewhere along the way,

we couldn't understand our own hearts.

I should've known it was time to let go

when I felt no fire left in my soul;

All the energy drained from trying to

save something that couldn't be contained.

But I knew the moment you held me

that I'd never forget the way it felt.

Remember the times our hands were tied,

to when they let go and said goodbye;

The tears we fought to hide and the love

that was ruined by inexperience and pride.

After all that we've been through,

I'll never be the same for knowing you.
