Timeless fashion for women and men is very similar. Timeless clothing for women consists of items that can be worn with current trends to modernize a given look. The little black dress for that special evening cocktail party is a shining example of an item that will always be classic but transcendable from season to season and trend to trend. Other items that can easily be paired with the latest fashions are classic blouses, sweaters, and turtlenecks. If a woman purchases a brown, black, or beige item in any of these categories, that item can be paired with pretty much anything to make a woman look modern but fashionable. Remember that large imprints, embellishments, puffs or frills quickly go out with the trends they came in with, so keep your selections simple. Opt for solid colors and simple designs when buying blouses, sweaters, and turtlenecks along with skirts or pants. A good wardrobe for any woman should consist of at least one strapless, knee length black dress; few solid colored blouses and sweaters; a great A-line, knee length skirt; classic capris pants in black or khaki; and a great cardigan. Many buy these items in black as it is always fashionable and durable in any season. Shoes, shoes, shoes are a fashion must as well so buy some simple strapy sandals, a pair of black high heels, and some Mary Janes to complete your looks as well.

Like women, men have many options to pair a classic and modern look as well. Timeless clothing items for men consists of items that are usually black, brown, or grey in color and range from pants to shirts to sweaters. Like women rely on their little black dresses, men can rely on a black tuxedo for that timeless look at a formal occassion. Business or sports jackets and ties should also be purchased in solid colors such as black or brown and then coupled with the lastest look. Khaki pants, as is the case for women, should always be purchased for a man's wardrobe as well. Like the ladies, dress shoes and sandals should be simple and solid in color. A solid colored vest is always a great addition to a modern but classic look as well.

Always remember that following the rules for timeless fashion does not mean that one can not have fun with current trends. Timeless selections are the best accompaniment to a modern look and their longevity is obvious in the modern designs they help to propel.
